Is your mom cool?

May is here which means Mother’s Day is around the corner. If you are like me, your mother occupies a very special place in your heart, right at the very top, perhaps only comparable for the love you have for your kids. May also means that the weather is getting warmer, which in turn means your mother, while a super cool individual, is not as cool as she would like to be because of May’s suffocating heat; suffocating heat that will only get hotter as the northern hemisphere makes its way into Summer. You get the picture.

Sunday the 13th my family will be getting together for one of its grandest traditions. Brunch at my mother’s. Don’t worry, she won’t have to cook on her day. It’s just an opportunity for her children and grandchildren to get together and share with her a special day, one we hope we can celebrate for many more years and rejoice in all the love that emanates from her. It is a monumental family affair with unhealthy amounts of food, loud music, dancing, hugs, kisses and of course, gifts. This is South Florida and it will be a warm afternoon, but we’ll be ready for it.
